Brett D. Bruininks
Brett D. Bruininks is currently an assistant professor in Exercise Science and is the director of the Laboratory of Human Performance at Concordia College (Moorhead, MN). He holds a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from the University of Notre Dame and a masters and doctoral degree in kinesiology from the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Bruininks brings a unique perspective to the study and assessment of individuals with motor development issues, having extensive experience in human physiology and performance and in developmental psychology. Dr. Bruininks has facilitated interdisciplinary training and education for individuals with special needs and their families.
He has made contributions to the study of the disability services available in large, post-secondary educational settings. As a doctoral student, his research focused on cardiovascular disease risk factors in adults with Down’s syndrome and cognitive disabilities.
Most recently, Dr. Bruininks has examined the influence of external loading mechanics on musculoskeletal health and development in children and young adults. In addition, he is the co-author the Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency | Second Edition (BOT-2).
